The Seun Cutout Top feels like the latter.
It is named after Seun, who designed it, and if you know him, that probably tells you something already. He is the kind of person who enjoys himself. Happy, a little whimsical, always ready for a good time, a young man enjoying Lagos as it comes, with all its noise, heat, late nights and unexpected plans. So perhaps it makes sense that the top feels that way too.
It started with a simple idea: make something loose.
Aso Oke is beautiful, but it is not exactly the lightest material to wear. Its thickness gives it character, but it can also make clothing feel heavier than you would like, especially in a place like Lagos where the weather does not always care what you planned to wear.The Seun Cutout Top approached that differently.

Why Seun?
The name is almost too straightforward. There was no distant reference or elaborate story behind it. It was simply named after the person who designed it.
But the more you look at the piece, the more the name makes sense. There is something of Seun in its looseness, in the decision to leave the arms bare, the refusal to make Aso Oke feel overly formal, it is in the fact that you can wear it to a date, a night out with friends, or wherever the evening happens to take you.
The top does not seem interested in behaving like every other Aso Oke piece. Neither, perhaps, is its designer. And that is what makes the Seun Cutout Top feel like more than a name attached to a product, It feels personal.
